MILD HYDROCRACKER Case History

KPE provided turnkey engineering, project management, procurement, fabrication and field construction services for a 15,000 BPSD mild hydrocracking unit.

THE NEED

Navajo Refining Company required a hydrocracking unit in order to increase the refinery’s ability to process outside feedstocks and increase yields of higher value products. The project was also a key component of the company’s overall strategy for producing low sulfur transportation fuels.

OUR SOLUTION

We constructed a hydrocracking unit that utilized process technology from a third party Licensor. The front and back ends of the unit were designed for 30,000 BPSD to provide future expansion capability while the main reactor loop was designed for 15,000 BPSD. Our assistance in preparing the FEED package also enabled project continuity between the project development and execution phases.
