A mid-continent refiner required both a new Vacuum Distillation Unit (VDU) and a revamp of their Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) to increase their refinery’s capacity and feedstock flexibility
The new VDU and CDU revamp required unique modifications to meet our clients’ needs:
For the VDU, KPE utilized a wet design and selected an optimum tower size designed to increase operating flexibility and optimize steam generation.
The CDU modifications allowed the refinery to significantly increase crude processing capacity, and enabled them to process a heavier, more sour crude slate.
Our proven, cost-effective designs succeeded in providing the client with additional refining capacity and flexibility, while balancing both performance and economic objectives.
